Project:
Addition/Renovation
Area:
2,230 SQ M
Completion Date:
2005
Description:
The Ottawa Hospital's Civic Campus Emergency Department provides 24-hour services to patients in the Ottawa-Carleton region and trauma care for Eastern Ontario. The redevelopment increased the department from 1,551 SQ M to 3,781 SQ M to accommodate the projected 70,000 visits per year. Upon completion this large-scale project added an updated and modern image to this hospital’s most public facility.
The key to Erskine Dredge's success was through the development of a phasing plan simultaneously with block schematics to avoid unnecessary and unavailable swing space. As well, from a project management perspective, monthly design meetings with all client groups to garner consensus with design strategy avoided late changes to the design as well as client conflicts.
